The Gyrotonic® Propellor is an amazingly versatile piece of equipment, bringing spiraling movements into positions as varied as planks, splits, bridges and catbacks, this amazing machine is a huge step into the modern Gyrotonic Class development. The Propellor dramatically improves balance, coordination, proprioception, strength and flexibility. Gyrotonic students of all levels can find appropriate challenges working on it.

The Propellor features two spinning discs sitting on opposite ends of another rotating axis. This allows for the limbs to spiral individually while still connecting to each other. Spinning challenges both sides of the brain and the body. It’s also fun! Letting go into a spiral is one of the pleasures of a Gyrotonic class. Gyrotonic exercises on the Propellor often create a double helix pattern like our DNA! They help us find our central axis, unifying the parts of our body around our spine. Only a machine with as many spiraling parts as the Propellor could so organize the many curves and joints of our bodies. Gyrokinesis Warmup Class

A Gyrotonic class on the Propellor challenge range of motion and control by moving parts of the body in large circles. Rather than back-and-forth movements, these exercises stretch us through a great variety of positions in every repetition. These shifts can particularly build oblique strength. Standing Gyrotonic exercises improve balance, posture and hip alignment. Dancers find the spirals of the Propellor improve external and internal rotation while lengthening the legs and spine. Recovery after hip replacement surgery is aided by the Propellor’s gently sliding motions. If you are searching for the perfect Gyrotonic Near Me, we are it!

Our Gyrotonic studio has two Propellors, one on our Gyrotonic Jumping Stretching Board and one on our Gyrotonic Class Archway. reFORM members may use the Gyrotonic equipment for self practice as part of our independent workout policy. Understanding of the setup and repertoire are required, so we are offering a “Getting Independent” class in February to help you get comfortable with the material. This Gyrotonic class will show how to safely set up and break down the Propellors on the Jumping-Stretching Board and the Archway. We will cover a large repertoire of exercises, which can be performed as a set for a full-body workout, or incorporated into workouts with other machines to help with individual goals. We support Breathwork Class, Pilates and Gyrotonic, we believe that Gyrokinesis will set your mind and body free.
